We’re Chloé and Mackenzie, former Harvard colleagues, friends, and life-long readers. What began as a daydream between two friends looking for an escape from the mundanity of office jobs, took shape into something bigger, something magical. A business that spreads the magic and mystery of our favorite stories with our community.

We launched Midnight Books, our line of Blind Dates With a Book in October of 2025 both online and at a number of markets and pop-ups in the greater-Boston area. While we were always excited about our idea and knew it filled a gap in our community, we never could have expected just how enthusiastic and supportive the reaction was!

Between countless sales and conversations with our community and friends, we learned a few key things— people are genuinely excited about books (especially those from diverse voices), and there is a strong need for more community-based spaces.

This is where The Midnight Bookseller will come in. A fantasy and dark literature bookstore that features a wide range of diverse stories, and a gathering space for community events, book clubs, author talks, and more.

Thanks to all of you, we are able to fulfill our life-long dream of opening our very own bookstore! The Midnight Bookseller will open in Salem, MA this summer!
